John Amszi

John W. Amszi, 102, of Herman passed away Tuesday evening at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

He was born on March 26, 1912, in Pittsburgh.

He was a baker for the Braun Baking Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1975.

John was a member of the Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Herman.

He is survived by his son, John W. Amszi of Cleveland, Texas; his daughter, Elizabeth Rakarich and her husband, Robert, of Herman; his eight grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; and his eight great-great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanna Shaltes Amszi, who passed away in 1992, and his sister, Nell Heisler.

Amszi— The friends of John W. Amszi, who passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.A blessing service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ward Stakem, O.F.M. Cap., pastor of Saint Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
