Cruises aboard Nautical Nature, an enclosed pontoon boat, include a 90-minute narrated tour of Lake Arthur, as sponsored by the Moraine Preservation Fund. Cruises begin at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets for adults are $11 online and $12 at the gate, for senior citizens, $9 and $10, and for children, $5 and $6. Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host a film commemorating forgotten and extinct birds of North America Sept. 8. The program begins at 7 p.m., and refreshments will be served. Admission is free. The event is hosted by the Bartramian Audubon Society. Call 724-794-6011.

Moraine State Park has kayaking programs at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9 and 9 a.m. Sept. 23. Call 724-368-3612 to register. A stargazing party is planned for 8 p.m. Friday at the North Shore Bike Rental. Working demonstrations of the historic oil well are planned for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 13 at the well along Park Road off Route 528.

Star parties sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh begin, weather permitting, at 8 p.m. Aug. 29 and 30 at Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory in Deer Lakes Regional Park, Frazer Township, Allegheny County.
