CONNOQUENESSING TWP — The Butler Farm Show Airport has been awarded $60,000 from the state to install a new access gate and fencing.Rick McPherson, the assistant airport manager, said the grant is a routine one aimed to improve the facility.“It will be used to better secure the airport,” he said.McPherson said there is already some five-foot tall fencing around the airport. The grant will be used to make it surround the entire perimeter.“It'll fill in the missing pieces,” he said. The state money also will fund a new access gate. The fencing could be installed in 2015 if everything goes well, McPherson said.“There's a lot of bureaucracy between planning and the final product,” he said. “Hopefully it'll be up next year.”
