William Higbee Jr.

William Henry Higbee Jr., 67, of Jefferson Township, formerly of Pine and Ross townships, died Thursday at the VA Hospital in Aspinwall.

Born in Pittsburgh on March 25, 1947, he was the son of the late William Henry and Helen Marie Stefanko Higbee Sr.

Bill had been a welder for Pullman Standard and Trinity Industries, both in Butler.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, serving on the U.S.S. Okinawa as a helicopter crew chief.

Surviving are two sisters, Barbara Schmitt and her husband, James, of Gibsonia and Roberta Coplan and her husband, Kent, in Arizona; one nephew, James Schmitt Jr.; one niece, Anna Schmitt; and six great-nieces and nephews.

HIGBEE — Friends of William Henry Higbee Jr., who died Thursday, July 10, 2014, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.Burial with military honors will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township at 2:30 p.m. Monday.Condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
