Laurabelle L. Long

Laurabelle L. Long, 93, formerly of Harrisville, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday at Orchard Manor, Grove City, where she was living.

A daughter of Alfred W. and Aline N. Dickson Brandon, she was born in Harrisville on Aug. 11, 1920.

She was a 1939 graduate of Harrisville High School.

A homemaker, Mrs. Long was a member of the Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Grove City Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem Grove City Chapter, the Harrisville American Legion Auxiliary, and the Grove City Women's Bowling League.

During the time her husband was in the Navy, she operated a dress shop in Harrisville. For many years she wrote the Harrisville news for the Butler Eagle. She was interested in local history and was preparing a history of Harrisville. She also enjoyed reading and working on crafts.

On May 29, 1939, she married Clyde H. Long, who died on July 24, 2004.

Surviving are her two daughters, Martha Stoke and her husband, Virgil, of Sharon and Nora E. Fisher of Kent, Wash.; her nine grandchildren; her 20 great-grandchildren; and her six great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sisters, Annie M. Reilly of Buffalo, N.Y., and Earla J. Hinds of Grove City; her four brothers, Lewis D. Brandon of Slippery Rock, Harold L. Brandon of Bonita Springs, Fla., Alfred D. Brandon of Grove City and Donald A. Brandon of Norristown, Ariz.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Sue Kennedy; her sister, Mary Weidenhofer; and her two brothers, Robert and Everett Brandon.

Long— The friends of Laurabelle L. Long, who passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Peter J. Puliatti, pastor of the Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church, officiating.
