Camryn Forbes, a 15-year-old Penn Township resident, finished the women’s 200-meter backstroke in 2:19.82 to finish 62nd at the 2014 U.S. Swimming nationals in Irvine, Calif.

Forbes, who swims for the Butler YMCA, will also compete in the 50 and 100 meter backstroke.

SRU women’s soccer achieves high rank

The Slippery Rock University women’s soccer team set a program record when they finished sixth nationally last season.

That led to more accolades before 2014 even started. SRU was ranked sixth in the Division II preseason poll released Thursday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Continental Tire.

The Rock won its first ever Atlantic Regional title last season before losing to American International in the quarterfinals. SRU went 14-5-2 last season.
