County authors offer new works

“The 17”

Four new books have been released by Butler County authors recently.

Butler Eagle sports reporter Mike Kilroy has released his second science fiction novel, “The 17,” a coming of age story in a dystopian world.In this young adult novel, 17-year-old protagonist Zack Earnest is whisked away from his home — and his mom's scrumptious eggs — to a planet ruled by long-lived life forms in their death throes.They need what they call a “spark” and hope Zack and other teenagers they have abducted from all over the galaxy can provide it.Of course, the aliens require much more from “The 17” who have passed their tests than they let on, and Zack and the others struggle to understand, and thwart, their plans.A digital copy of “The 17” is available online for $2.99. Tim Croll, a Butler native living in Slippery Rock, has written and self-published “Slippery Rock: The Philosophical Center of the Universe.”Croll graduated from Butler High School in 1985 and from Slippery Rock University in 1991.
