Ella E. Majors

Ella E. Majors, 96, of Majors Manor Personal Care Home, Mill Bridge Road, New Castle, went home to her celebration with her Lord Tuesday afternoon.

Born Dec. 26, 1917, in Princeton, Pa., she was a daughter of Sheridan and Edith Stoner Stickel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd C. Majors, who she married on July 14, 1934.

Ella was the owner and operator of the Majorette Restaurant in Portersville and the founder of Majors Motor Home Park. She assisted in running Majors Manor Personal Care Home and was the night residence director.

In earlier years, Ella enjoyed traveling to many places with her husband Boyd. She was referred to as “Grandma” by mostly everyone who knew her, as well as being known as the best pie baker around.

An active member of Dewey Avenue Holiness Church, she taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school and Wednesday night youth Bible study.

Many lives have been touched by her faith and testimony in Jesus Christ.

She is survived by one brother, Samuel Stickel of Princeton; one sister, Bernice Miller of Princeton; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Majors; four grandchildren, Sherry (Darry) Johnston, Jody (Jim) Lang, Kim Majors and Wendy (Tom) Haswell; 10 great-grandchildren, Paula (Brian) Boughter, Joshua (Chrissy) Copper, Brandon (Kristen) Hinkle, Matt Hinkle, Jennifer (Jeff) Burgess, Steven (Tara) Lang, Katie Majors, Jake Haswell, Marcus Haswell and Sam Haswell; and seven great-great-grandchildren, Dylan Hinkle, Savannah Hinkle, Zane Boughter, Madison Burgess, Ryan (Butch) Burgess, Mayci Lang and Dafni Lang.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Majors and Clayton Majors, and one great-great-grandson, Nathaniel W. Copper. 

MAJORS — Visitation for Ella E. Majors, who died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Monday at noon at the funeral home and will be officiated by the Rev.
