Dorothy P. “Dotty” Lucas

Dorothy P. “Dotty” Lucas, 79, of Mars died Saturday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born in Chicora on June 14, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth Hunsberger Ford.

Dotty had worked as a hostess for the Pines Tavern in Gibsonia for 14 years.

She was a member of St. Kilian Church, where she was a member and past president of the Christian Mothers. She had been active with the Girl and Boy Scouts, the Mars AARP and the Mars Senior Center.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph R. Lucas, who she married on May 25, 1957; three daughters, Elaine Gray and her husband, Allen, of Canonsburg, Laurel Leitzel and her husband, Matthew, of Mechanicsburg and Catherine Baxter of Mars; one son, Joseph E. Lucas of Greensburg; her grandchildren, William, Nathaniel and Christopher Baxter, Lucas and Joshua Gray and Jonathan Leitzel; and her great-granddaughter, Peyton Baxter. She also is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary McCall, Irene Porter and Henrietta Doctor, and one brother, Francis Ford.
