PITTSBURGH — A doctor once charged with inappropriately touching four female patients at his Pittsburgh-area offices was acquitted of charges involving one woman.

The criminal charges involving three other former patients of Dr. Raja Chakrapani, 60, of Fox Chapel had previously been dismissed by judges or withdrawn by prosecutors.

Allegheny County police say the first allegations surfaced in August 2012. An assistant district attorney told a Common Pleas judge he could not prove the remaining allegations after the final former patient refused to testify Monday, prompting the not guilty verdict.

Defense attorney Patrick Thomassey says the physician will ask to have his Pennsylvania medical license reinstated.

A civil suit based on the same allegations is still ongoing. Thomassey says the doctor is “not the kind of guy” to improperly touch his patients.

MIFFLINBURG — A 17-year-old is the fourth person to face adult charges in a highway rock-throwing incident in central Pennsylvania that severely injured an Ohio teacher last month.Keefer Lance McGee of New Columbia was arraigned on charges that include aggravated assault, throwing a missile into an occupied vehicle and reckless endangerment.He's charged along with three others in the July 10 incident on Interstate 80 that caused traumatic injuries to Sharon Budd of Uniontown, Ohio.Bond is in serious condition at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.McGee had previously been charged as a juvenile.

HARRISBURG — It pays to pray in the Pennsylvania Senate, but not in the House. The Senate provides a $125 stipend to chaplains who offer a prayer during the opening of a legislative session. It also pays their mileage expenses.Senate Republican spokesman Erik Arneson told PennLive.com the payment is a token of appreciation for people who often have to travel long distances to get to Harrisburg. Arneson said about $10,000 a year is set aside in the Senate budget for chaplains' expenses.The state House of Representatives is not as generous. It hands out ceremonial gavels and photos of the chaplains with the lawmaker who invited them.
