SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — The Slippery Rock High School marching band will have the same director for the 2014-15 school year.

The school board Monday night voted 9-0 to reappoint Les Fine.

Fine had been the band director since 2005, but the school board opened the position in June.

Although the director’s position was opened, Fine remained a music teacher at the district’s middle school and high school.

In June, several people spoke at a school board meeting in support of Fine, and mentioned a rumor that said Fine was in the hot seat with district administration because of a perceived lack of chaperones on a band trip to Chicago in March.

Because the issue is considered a personnel issue, the district could not comment.
