BlueSox extend win streak to 8
Adam Bleday was simply too much for Champion City Friday night.
The Butler BlueSox's southpaw cruised through the Kings' lineup for eight innings, striking out 15, walking one and giving up just four hits to earn the victory in a 1-0 Prospect League road decision.
The win is Butler's eighth in a row.
The BlueSox (31-18, 16-5 second half) scored the game's lone run in the top of the sixth frame.
Taylor Schmidt was hit by a pitch and advanced to second and third on groundouts by Stephen Sada and Collin Massanelli, respectively. Schmidt scored on Ryan Hanahan's single.
Dave Yakopec recorded the first out of the bottom of the ninth before Austin Ross came on and struck out two for the save.
The BlueSox will play a doubleheader at Richmond (Ind.) Saturday before coming home to face Champion City on Sunday.
