Donald J. Geibel, 85, of Butler passed away Wednesday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born in Butler on Sept. 22, 1928, he was the son of the late Clarke Geibel and Sue Graham Geibel Redick.

He was a salesman at McCarren's Clothing Store for 53 years.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed golfing, attending the theater and going on vacations with his family.

He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was a former usher.

He was also a member of the Elks Lodge of Butler and American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Leech Geibel, to whom he was married for 63 years; his two sons, William J. Geibel and his wife, Theodosia Regal, of Butler and D. Jay Geibel and his wife, Beth, of Butler; his daughter, Diane Straley and her husband, William, of New Franklin, Ohio; his granddaughter, Leah Geibel of Butler; and his cousin, Sister Marie Corona Miller of Greensburg.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Betty Lou Davis and Bonnie Dietz; his stepfather, Harold Redick; and his cousin, Father William Miller.

Geibel — The friends of Donald J. Geibel, who passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Butler. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.Members of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 10:35 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.For more information, please visit www.martinfh.net.
