Police seek robbery suspect

Warrants issued for Beaver County man

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — A suspected serial robber wore the same clothes and an identical disguise when he held up stores in Slippery Rock and Shenango townships on three different days this month.

Store surveillance video helped identify the suspect, Devin R. Brandon, 26, of North Sewickley Township, Beaver County, authorities said.

State police and Shenango Township police recently obtained arrest warrants for Brandon.

The defendant in the latest crime July 8 allegedly robbed The Tic Toc store on Ellwood Road in Slippery Rock Township.

Police believe Brandon, armed with a baseball bat about 8:30 p.m. July 8, made off with an undisclosed amount of money after threatening two female clerks.

The bandit wore a black hooded sweat shirt, camouflage pants and a camouflage bandanna, troopers said.

The clothing matched exactly the attire worn by a man who robbed the same Valero gas station in Shenango Township on July 4 and 6.

Shenango Township Police Chief William Phillips said Brandon is the suspect in both nighttime holdups at the store on East Washington Street.

“Both times he said he had a gun but the clerk did not see any,” Phillips aid.

The same clerk, a 31-year-old woman, was working each day. That apparently was not lost on the robber.

“The second time he robbed the store he told the clerk, ‘It’s me again,’” Phillips said.

The suspect got away with just under $500 in the first robbery and about $300 the second time.

Just an hour after The Tic Toc robbery, state police said they found Brandon’s alleged getaway car at a New Castle housing project.

The car previously had been identified in surveillance video taken during the Valero robberies.

A warrant search of the vehicle turned up clothing similar to that worn in all three robberies, as well as two baseball bats.

Police also found three hypodermic needles and empty stamp bags of suspected heroin.

A woman at the housing complex told investigators that Brandon had been visiting her there in recent days.

“She said (Brandon) got nervous when she told him that police were looking at his car, and she asked him to leave,” Phillips said.

Investigators said the defendant faces robbery, theft and other charges in each of the alleged holdups.
