CRANBERRY TWP — The Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber will announce its new president and CEO soon.

Jim Boltz, board chairman, said that a new leader has been selected from more than 200 candidates.

That person will replace former president and CEO Rebecca Martin, who abruptly resigned April 1, effective that day, after only 14 months on the job.

“We really re-evaluated the whole process we used (when Martin was hired), and made sure the person we are picking is someone that’s going to be around for a while,” Boltz said.

The board also has hired a new full-time office manager to replace the one who left with Martin in April. Boltz said Amy Fields was hired in mid-May to manage the operation of the chamber’s offices.

Boltz said the board chose not to fill another office position, which was added by Martin during her tenure.

Boltz said the board did not expect so many applications for the president’s position.

“That’s why it took a little longer than originally anticipated,” he said.

Boltz said candidates were screened via a telephone interview, then selected candidates received a second interview. The final three candidates were interviewed by the board of directors.

“We’re excited to get the position filled,” he said.

The chamber covers an area from Pittsburgh to just north of Zelienople, and from eastern Beaver County to just east of Route 8.

The chamber’s 2014 executive committee includes: Boltz, board chairman; John Laslavic, chairman elect; Becky Morella, past chairman; Gary Basilone, foundation chairman; Bruce Goodman, treasurer; and Lisa Hunt, secretary.
