Duo accused of stealing jewelry, selling it for cash

They lived with alleged victim

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — A Butler couple was arrested on charges stemming from the theft of more than $6,000 in jewelry from a township home.

District Judge Sue Haggerty on Sunday arraigned Amanda Jo Kline, 32, and Christopher M. Cameron, 33, on felony charges in the case. They were placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail each, following arraignment.

State police said the victim, Larry Arblaster, in December moved the defendants into his home “to help them out because they were down on their luck.”

According to court documents, Kline allegedly in March removed some of Arblaster’s jewelry that was in his bedroom. She later sold the items at a gold store in Butler Township.

Kline is accused of giving some of the stolen items to Cameron, who exchanged the property for money at a Butler jewelry store.

Police said Kline last month stole more jewelry from Arblaster. The owner on June 9 confronted the couple after finding his property gone, documents said.

Arblaster notified authorities after Kline and Cameron denied taking the jewelry.

Police said they checked the Butler County Precious Metals website and found the defendants had sold the items at different stores. The stolen property, including numerous gold rings, is valued at a combined $6,040, documents said.

Kline is charged with felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property. Cameron is charged with a felony count of receiving stolen property.
