Irene Texanna 'Texie' Ketterer

Texie Ketterer

Irene Texanna “Texie” Ketterer, 82, of Zelienople passed away Tuesday at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Cranberry Township.

Born on April 17, 1932, in Lancaster Township, she was the daughter of the late Winfield and Matilda (Rape) Burgh.

Texie was a faithful member of the English Lutheran Church in Zelienople, where she was active on the church council.

After 40 years of dedicated service, she retired as a teacher from the Seneca Valley School District in 1996. Texie was also a former member of the board of directors for the Glade Run Lutheran Services. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

She is survived by her children, David W. Ketterer and his wife, Patricia, of Butler, Dawn Shipley and her fiance, Donald McKee, of Dallas, Texas, Darcy McCorristin and her husband, Joseph, of Chesapeake, Va., and Dean Ketterer and his wife, Valerie, of Cranberry Township; her seven grandchildren; and her three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David “Pete” Ketterer, who passed away in 1977; her brother, George W. Burgh; and her sister-in-law, Leora Burgh.

Ketterer — The family of Irene Texanna “Texie” Ketterer, who passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the English Lutheran Church, 200 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Robert A. Keplinger officiating. Texie will be laid to rest at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the English Lutheran Church, 200 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063, to the American Lung Association National Office, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601, or to the Zelienople Area Public Library, 227 S.
