Charles J. 'Biz' Donnelly

Charles J. “Biz” Donnelly, 89, of Butler Township passed away peacefully Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot.

Biz was born in Tarentum on Aug. 13, 1924, the son of the late Gertrude (Schaefers) and Edward W. Donnelly.

He was the widower of Charlotte D. (DuCeour) Donnelly, who passed in 2002.

He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot.

He worked for more than 40 years as a yard master with the Pennsylvania Railroad/Penn Central/Conrail at Kiski Junction and in Etna, retiring in 1987.

Biz was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Leechburg Elks Lodge 377, where he was a past Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed watching old western movies and the TV show “Gunsmoke.” He loved going to the beach with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his three daughters, Anne Gentile of Mars, Mary Pat (Ralph) Schnur of Butler, and Katie Donnelly of Huntington; his 13 grandchildren, and his nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Edna Barr of Freeport, and his brother, Edward L. (Joan) Donnelly of Verona.

Donnelly— The family and friends of Charles J. “Biz” Donnelly, who passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.A parting prayer service will be in the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Saturday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot at 10 a.m. with Father Ward Stakem officiating.
