Lois Jean Switzer

Lois Jean Lorigan Switzer, 80, of Connoquenessing passed away Wednesday morning in the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Born Sept. 10, 1933, in Putneyville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Paul and Edith Kammerdiener Lorigan.

Lois was very active with the Connoquenessing United Methodist Church.

She had worked as a nurse's aide at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Lois was a member of the Connoquenessing Fire Company, where she had been an EMT.

She loved cooking and baking, but most of all, she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Switzer on Dec. 31, 2005; one brother, Don Lorigan; one sister, Elizabeth “Libby” and her husband, Herb Best; and one sister-in-law, Rosanne Lorigan.

She is survived by one daughter, Billie (Stephen) Godlewski of Tarentum; two sons, Darrell (Linda) Switzer of Connoquenessing and Russell (Debra) Switzer of Chicora; two brothers, Raymond Lorigan of Oil City and Harry (Bonnie) Lorigan of Greenville; one daughter-in-law, Joyce (Denny) Kriley of Butler; six grandchildren, Joe Switzer, Heath (Karen) Schreffler, Chris Switzer, Amanda Switzer (Frank Montgomery), Emily Switzer and Devin Campbell; and five great-grandchildren, Myah, Maci and Mali Montgomery, and Blake and Bryce Schreffler.

SWITZER — Friends of Lois Jean Lorigan Switzer, who died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, will be received at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St., Evans City, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.Additional information may be obtained at www.kinsey-volzfuneralhome.com.
