John E. George

John George

John E. George, 70, of 4165 Frew Mill Road, Portersville, formerly of New Castle and Gibsonia, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning in Jameson Hospital North.

Born on Aug. 29, 1943, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Rose Bara George. John married the former Patricia A. Strosser. They were married for 49 wonderful years. She survives at home. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Maronite Church in New Castle.

Mr. George was the owner and president of George Moving and Storage for 39 years in Freedom.

John graduated from New Castle High School, Class of 1961 and received his bachelor of science degree in education from Slippery Rock University. He enjoyed winemaking and riding his tractor on his farm. John also enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Grove City Country Club.

John loved his grandchildren and spending time with them as much as he could.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas A. (Suzanne) George II of Wexford and Jeff (Christine) George of Richfield, Ohio; one daughter, Rebecca R. George of Mars; two brothers, Thomas J. George and his companion, Linda, of New Castle and Michael (Kathy) George of Erie; six sisters, Leda Urban of Struthers, Ohio, Rosemary George of New Castle, Jean (John) Wlodarski of Brookfield, Ohio, Regina (Ronald) Greenwald of Slippery Rock, Toni (David) McIltrot of Mount Lebanon and Maryann George of Ardmore; and five grandchildren, John George, Elizabeth George, Evan George, Olivia George and Ava George.

Mr. George was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Rose George.

GEORGE — Calling hours for John E. George, who died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, are noon to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. An incense service will be at 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home by the Rev. Claude W. Franklin Jr.The family will meet at St. John the Baptist Maronite Church at 10 a.m. Monday, where a funeral liturgy and committal service will be celebrated by the Rev. Claude W.
