Lilia Dormetto, 1, of Zelienople watches last year's parade in Zelienople. The parade returns this year to celebrate July Fourth.

ZELIENOPLE — The borough’s July Fourth Community Day will include a road race, parade, symphony orchestra concert, duck derby and fireworks display.

The day will begin with the Firecracker 5K and 1 mile walk at 8 a.m. in Zelienople Community Park. Entry is $20 for adults and $15 for children 15 and younger. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Park. An award ceremony at 9:15 a.m. will follow the race.

To register, contact Joella Baker at 724-321-4265 or joella@zoominternet.com.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by food and live music in the park.

At 2:30 p.m., Friends of the Park will hold the Derby Duck Race at the pool. Tickets will be sold that correspond to the 1,000 rubber ducks that will be launched down the water slide and race across the pool. The first three ducks to cross the finish line will win their ticket holders $1,000, $500 and $250, respectively. Tickets are $10 each; call 724-452-0231.

At 8 p.m. in the community park amphitheater the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display starting at 9:45 p.m.
