Blakney Scott

Blakney Scott, 84, of Petrolia passed away Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1930, in Library, Allegheny County, the son of the late Hugh Blakney Scott and Helen (Walk) Scott.

Blakney was a lifetime resident of Petrolia, and he entered the U.S. Marines in 1955, serving his country until 1973.

When he returned to Petrolia, he began working at INDSPEC as a pipe fitter, retiring in 1994 after 21 years.

Blakney was a member of the American Legion and the VFW, and loved being outdoors. In his free time he enjoyed playing slot machines, shooting guns, going to flea markets, and cutting wood for his wood burner. Blakney’s favorite times were those spent with his family, especially his best buddy and great-grandson, Blake. They loved playing Frisbee together and Blakney made sure to teach him everything he could.

His family and friends will always remember him as being a wonderful storyteller and for having a giving and selfless nature.

He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Debbie Horner and her husband, John, of Parker; his grandchild, Jaime Blystone, of Parker; his step-grandchildren, Brandy Horner of Oklahoma, and Sandra Jackson and her husband, David, of Parker, and his great-grandchildren, Blake Blystone and Hayden Jackson.

In addition to his parents, Blakney was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lois Jean (Ace) Scott, who he married on July 28, 1956, and who died in 2008.
