Ethel Hinton

Ethel Marie Hinton, 84, formerly of Spring Hill Lane, New Castle, passed away Sunday at the Trinity Living Center, Grove City.

Born on May 24, 1929, in Butler, she was a daughter of John A. and Rose Beers Schehl.

She was preceded in death on Jan. 23, 2011, by her husband of 61 years, Robert Norman Hinton, who she married on Feb. 24, 1949.

Ethel was a graduate of Butler High School and was a card representative with American Greetings for 10 years.

Among her interests were reading, sewing and playing the lottery.

She was a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Church.

Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara (Thomas) Kirkwood of New Castle, Kathie (Mike) Potemra of Ellwood City and Lyn Ann Hinton of Knoxville, Tenn.; her two sons, Robert John (Lena) Hinton of Yulee, Fla., and Kenneth (Susan) Hinton of Mercer; her two sisters, Clara Marie Hurley of Lady Lake, Fla., and Diane Sybert of Tacoma, Wash.; her nine grandchildren; her 14 great-grandchildren; and her four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, George, Herb and Raymond Schehl, and her two sisters, Joan Hertz and Sister Mary Vincent Schehl.

Hinton— Visitation for Ethel Marie Hinton, who passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014, will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A procession will leave the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. for the St. Joseph the Worker Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of American at www.alzfdn.org.The obituary may be viewed and online condolences offered at www.cunninghamfh.com.
