Patricia 'Kay' Castor

Patricia “Kay” Castor, 64, of Harrisville passed away at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh at 1:33 p.m. Tuesday following a brief illness.

She was born in Grove City on March 31, 1950, to Paul William Taggart and the late Katherine Jane Thompson Taggart.

She married David Eugene Castor on Feb. 20, 1970.

She was employed at Slippery Rock University as a secretary and retired in 2011.

She graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1968 and was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, where she had played the church organ since the age of 14. She was active in the church choir and as a Sunday school teacher.

Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved music, and she was a member of the Sing Hosanna Choir in Butler.

She had a passion for sports and loved anything Pittsburgh, with an emphasis on the Steelers. She enjoyed needlework and cross stich.

She will be remembered for her smile, her laugh and her hugs.

Survivors include her father, Paul W. Taggart of Harrisville, along with her husband, David E., also of Harrisville; her son, Eric David and his wife, Emily Castor, of Fairfax, Va.; her daughter, Kristin Marie Castor of Baton Rouge, La.; her sister, Dorothy J. “Dee” and her husband, Raymond Thompson, of Slippery Rock; her grandson, Carson Jacob Castor; her nieces, Sarah, Megan and her husband, Ryan, and Samantha; her great-niece, Camryn; and her nephews, Dustin and Ryan.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Castor — The funeral services for Patricia “Kay” Castor, who passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, will be at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Willard Morse, retired pastor, presiding.Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, and from 10 until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday.
