Betty A. Waddell Black, 87, of Butler passed away at 8 p.m. Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

She was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Pittsburgh to the late Leon M. Ayers and Christine Ayers.

Mrs. Black was a homemaker and a very active member of Connoquenessing United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and Scrabble, and flower gardening. She was also a dog lover.

Mrs. Black is survived by her son, James P. Waddell Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Atlanta, Ga., and her grandson, James P. Waddell III of Atlanta, Ga.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Pettigrew Waddell, who passed away in February 1997; her second husband, Stuart M. Black, who passed away in June 2006; her two brothers, and her two sisters.

Waddell Black, who passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014, will be announced later at Connoquenessing United Methodist Church with inurnment at Butler County Memorial Park.Arrangements are being handled by Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
