Frances Shunk

Frances V. Geyer Shunk, 85, of Mars passed away Sunday morning at LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born in Pittsburgh on May 21, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Stets Pauba.

Fran had worked as a waitress at Isaly’s in Pittsburgh and for Paul & Ann’s Bowling Alley in Middlesex Township.

She was a member of the St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church, where she was in the Christian Mothers. She also belonged to the Mars AARP, the Mars VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Mars Senior Citizens.

Surviving are her two daughters, Connie McAlpine of Callery and Michelle Geyer Brown of Renfrew; her two sons, Wayne Geyer of Moundsville, W.Va., and Brian Geyer of Wheeling, W.Va.; her two stepsons, George Shunk and Michael Shunk; her 14 grandchildren, and her six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James L. Geyer; her second husband, George E. Shunk; her son, James Geyer Jr.; her stepdaughter, Donna Bush; her three brothers, and her sister.

Shunk— Friends of Frances V. Geyer Shunk, who died Sunday, May 11, 2014, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be at the St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church at the corner of Clark and Cherry Streets in Mars at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating.
