James L. “Pops” Adams, 84, of Gibsonia, formerly of Cranberry Township, passed away Friday at St. Barnabas Nursing Home.

A Catholic, James was a graduate of Avalon High School, where he was a gifted trumpet player. For over 35 years he dedicated his life as a volunteer fireman in Cranberry Township, and he was a mill worker at the American Bridge Steel Mill for U.S. Steel until his retirement.

In his spare time, James enjoyed coin collecting and had a love for animals of all kinds. Above all, James will be remembered as a sweet, gentle and caring individual who’s giving nature was exemplified through his love and support for his family. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

James leaves behind to cherish his memory his four children, Edward (Patricia) Belveny of Cecil Township, Sandra (Robert) Pegg of Zelienople, Susan (Richard) Baron of Mars and Donald (Jennifer) Belveny of Cranberry Township; his nine grandchildren, Brandi, Amber, Robert Jr., Sean, Edward III, Tiffany, Veronica, Andrew and Vaden; and his seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Kaylee, Riley, Zander, Xandrea and Maddison.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Adams, who passed away in 2009; and one son, Ronald Belveny.

ADAMS — Friends of James L. “Pops” Adams, who died Friday, May 9, 2014, will be welcomed by James' family on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of a blessing service at 1 p.m. at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township, with the Rev. George Dalton, officiating.James will be laid to rest at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Peter's Township.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in James' honor to the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company, 1629 Haine School Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with James' family at www.glennkildoofuneralhome.com.
