Muddy 5K race coming to festival
Muddy tire tracks will be joined by muddy foot prints at this year’s Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.
This will occur during the debut of the Bantam Jeep Muddy 5K race at 8 a.m. Sunday at Cooper’s Lake Campground.
“We’ve watched mud runs increase in popularity recently and thought, ‘why not open our Jeep Playground up to these mud enthusiasts,’” said festival committee member Rodney Schaffer.
“We’ve already got rocks, mud and trails, so it seemed like a great new way for families to spend Father’s Day.”
Runners will encounter obstacles including tires, cargo nets, steep hills and more, plus the Jeep Playground and mud pit that are used throughout the weekend by the participating Jeeps.
Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in all age classes, plus the top male and female finisher overall.
The entry fee is $55, and groups that register at the same time can take advantage of these discounts: two people, $100; three people, $130; and four people, $160.
Breakfast and admission to the festival on Sunday is included in the fee.
Register online at www.bantamjeepfestival.com or simply show up to register on race day. On-site registration begins at 6:30 a.m.
