Leroy A. Shearer

Leroy A. Shearer, 95, of Butler passed away Thursday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on May 23, 1918, in Butler, the son of the late Merle and Wilhemina (Herold) Shearer.

Leroy was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

He enjoyed playing poker with his friends, fishing in Canada and golfing.

He worked for the Bessmer Lake Erie Railroad as train master.

Surviving are his two daughters, Linda Cahalan of Park City, Utah, and Sandra Stevenson of Renfrew; his son, Jeffrey Shearer of Butler; and his grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Stewart) Shearer; his two sisters, Grace and Frances; and his two brothers, Merle and Arthur.

Shearer— The friends of Leroy A. Shearer, who passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
