Dr. Steven Paterno and Dr. Maureen Russell in July will join the Butler Health System.
They will begin seeing gynecological patients on the BHS East Campus at 127 Oneida Valley Road and in Sarver at 147 Mulone Drive.
Paterno earned his undergraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University and his medical degree at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed a residency at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Russell earned her undergraduate degree at Gannon University and her medical degree at the Hahnemann University School of Medicine. She completed a residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix.Paterno and Russell will continue to accept most insurances including Highmark and UPMC.
BUFFALO TWP — Greg Chambers of Oberg Industries was recently appointed to the Pennsylvania Apprenticeship and Training Council by Gov. Tom Corbett.Chambers is director of corporate compliance and safety and is the apprenticeship program leader for Oberg.The council represents apprentice and education needs of all manufacturers in the state. It has 11 representatives of the work force and public sectors.Oberg is a diversified precision manufacturer with more than 800 employees worldwide.
ALTOONA — Butler Downtown, the Main Street Program in the city, has been honored with a state Townie Award for its work on the West New Castle Street Plaza.The award for Public Space Improvement was given to the group by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center at its annual conference last week in Altoona.Butler Downtown in the summer annually transforms a block of West New Castle into a plaza, featuring a stage and several tables. The group hosts a variety of events at the plaza, including musical performances.Butler was one of 12 Main Street Programs to receive an award from the state organization that has more than 200 member organizations.
BUFFALO TWP — Oberg Industries recently got state approval to add six new apprenticeship training programs.These include two computer numerical control programs for operators and setup programmers in each of these areas: turning, milling and mill/turn.All of the apprenticeship programs are registered with the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.According to a company news release, Oberg is stepping up its work force development efforts.Oberg is a diversified precision manufacturer with more than 800 employees worldwide.
Sugar Creek Rest is a 2014 recipient of a Bronze Commitment to Quality Award for improving the lives of residents through quality care.The award is given through the National Quality Award program, presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living. Sugar Creek Rest is a continuing care retirement community in Worthington, Armstrong County.
