Kengor picked by Tigers
Will Kengor joined an elite club Saturday.
The Slippery Rock University senior shortstop was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 28th of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Kengor is the 20th player in Rock history and second shortstop to be picked. Craig White was the last SRU shortstop taken when he was nabbed by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1989.
Lou Trivino was the last Rock player drafted.
He was picked by the Oakland Athletics last season and is 4-4 with a 5.43 ERA for Single-A Beloit.
Kengor led SRU with a .415 batting average and paced The Rock in a number of other categories on his way to being named PSAC West Division Player of The Year.
