Rita Joan Twerdok, 81, of Butler passed away Sunday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.

Born on Oct. 12, 1932, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Leaudra Rose Miller and Leo Evans.

She was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, where she served on the Women's Council. She was also a member of The Red Hat Club.

She had many hobbies, including drawing, painting, cooking, dancing and bowling. She was an animal lover and always had a pet cat. She had a green thumb and loved to grow beautiful houseplants.

Surviving are her three sons, Larry Twerdok of Silver Springs, Md., Thomas Twerdok of Pittsburgh and Gregory Twerdok of Landenberg; her nine grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Twerdok, who passed away in 1983. She was also preceded by her brothers and sisters, Theresa Ligus, Anna Franchuk, Patrick Evans, John Evans and Pauline Chepelsky, all of Butler.

Twerdok— The friends of Rita Joan Twerdok, who passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday.A blessing service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
