Red Barn opens season with Neil Simon play

Robert Hazen and Kathi Finch perform in the Red Barn Players' production of “Chapter Two” opening Friday.

FRANKLIN TWP, Beaver County — The Red Barn Players’ 60th season will open with the comedy “Chapter Two,” running for eight performances beginning Friday.

“Chapter Two” is the semi-autobiographical story by playwright Neil Simon about recently widowed writer George Schneider, who is encouraged by his younger brother, Leo, to start dating again. Unfortunately, this sends George into even more depression after a series of bad matches.

Enter Jennie Malone, who is recently divorced. It’s a bumpy trip on the road to Dreamland for these not-so-young lovers. George and Jennie stumble on, overcoming both their hesitation on the rebound and emotional neediness.

The show is being directed by Annette Quinn of Mars.

The cast includes Robert Hazen of New Castle, Paul Brenner of Brighton Township, and Jessa Boehler and Kathi Finch, both of Wexford.

Performances are set for 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 12 to 14 and 19 to 21 at the Red Barn Theatre, Route 228.

Tickets are $12. For reservations, call 724-773-7150.
