Pens hire new GM, assistant
Former Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Jim Rutherford is the new general manager of the team.
The team made the announcement at a 1 p.m. news conference.
Rutherford, 65, also announced that he has picked Billy Guerin to be his assistant general manager.
Guerin, 43, also played with the team for two years, including the 2009 Stanley Cup winning campaign.
He had an 18-year playing career.
