Work has begun on Route 356 in Jefferson and Summit Townships, according to a state Department of Transportation news release.

A 12-foot wide lane restriction was placed Monday on Route 356 near Rennick Road to help with the work. These restrictions will be in place for the duration of the project.

This $1.4 million project is being done by the Derry Construction of Latrobe.

It is expected to be done in September.

The Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., will begin a major roof replacement project on June 16.The $118,000 project will be done by Staab Brothers of Harrisville, and will take about four weeks.Several years ago the library replaced the roof over the original library building.Now this project will replace the roof over the northern portion of the library, formerly Luther Hall, which houses the circulation desk, the fiction collection and periodicals.Work will not interfere with the sidewalks, entrance steps or the door to the library. However, the library is reserving several spaces in its parking lot for storage, waste Dumpsters and construction vehicles.

EAST BUTLER — The East Butler Volunteer Fire Company is conducting its annual subscription fundraising campaign until June 31.Along with the borough, the fire company services Summit and Clearfield townships as well as part of Oakland Township.Anyone not receiving a letter about the campaign who wants to subscribe may do so by calling 724-285-6261.

ADAMS TWP — The Municipal Water Authority of Adams Township will flush it water lines from Monday through June 20 for the areas south of Route 228.The areas north of Route 228 will be covered from June 23 through July 3.There may be discoloration of the water during the time.It is recommended that customers test the water before laundering or using large quantities.If customers have problems, contact the authority at 724-625-3166.
