John “Jack” Oliver Snyder, 84, of Cleveland, Ga., passed away Thursday at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Snyder was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Slippery Rock to the late Helen Emma Badger Snyder and Elvy Floyd Snyder.

He was an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company and was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Myers, Fla. Mr. Snyder was an avid gardener, he loved walking in the woods, he was very generous and was ready to lend a hand to help anyone who needed help.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Ruth Snyder; and his brothers, Paul Snyder, Elvy James Snyder and Neal Snyder.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Snyder of Cleveland, Ga.; his daughter and son-in-law, Pat and John Curry of Augusta, Ga.; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Glenda Snyder of Cumming, Ga.; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Curry of Augusta, Katie Curry of Moorhead, Minn., Ryan Snyder of Atlanta and Heather Gravitt of Gainesville, Ga.

SNYDER — Memorial services for John “Jack” Oliver Snyder, who died Thursday, May 1, 2014, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of the Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland, Ga.The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
