SLIPPERY ROCK — Derek Gieraltowski, 17, a Slippery Rock High School junior, was a Henry Mancini Award honoree for best supporting actor for his portrayal of Archie in the musical “13.”

He was one of several Butler County students who were honored May 21 at the 20th annual Henry Mancini Awards, which honor the best in the arts from Butler, Beaver and Lawrence counties.

He has been involved with the high school drama club and the Summer Dramatics program, having had roles in musicals, including “Once Upon a Mattress,” “The Sound of Music,” “Bye Bye Birdie,” and “Peter Pan.”
