Backup power supply approved
The Butler County commissioners on Wednesday approved a $41,665 contract with an Illinois company to install a new power supply for the government center’s computer room.
Bob Moyer, director of county information technology, said in an interview the power outage that occurred earlier this month damaged some hardware.
Moyer said the new unit from Anixter of Glenview replaces multiple units with a shorter span of providing electricity.
The new unit will last at least an hour while the old units could not go past 10 minutes.
Moyer said no data was lost this time, but the county cannot take the chance of it happening during the next outage.
The money came from the IT department’s $50,000 budget for renovations.
New office buildingThe commissioners approved a builder’s risk insurance policy for construction of a new office building. The policy with Selective Insurance through the Howard Insurance Agency has an $8,825 premium. The $12.1 million project to erect a new office building adjacent to the government center includes repairing the roofs of the government center and courthouse as well as replacing three air conditioning units on the government center roof.
Sunnyview settlementThe county commissioners approved a $16,047 settlement with Highmark. The settlement resolves a dispute between the company and the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, which was county-owned until recently.Highmark alleged Sunnyview incorrectly reported information about resident care occurring between January 2012 and December 2013 that resulted in overpayments to the nursing home.Investment 360 of Lakewood, N.J., bought Sunnyview earlier this month.
