Andrew Herman

Andrew Herman, 90, of Butler died Tuesday afternoon at his home.

Born Sept. 21, 1923 in Butler, he was a son of the late Frank Herman and Mary (Fejko) Herman.

He worked as a furnace tender for the Armco Steel Plant in Butler, retiring after 40 years.

He was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Lyndora, and had enjoyed working crossword puzzles.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his two sons, Andrew Herman Jr. of Oregon and David F. (Teddi) Herman of Valencia; two daughters, Andrea L. Hough of Butler and Mary Ann (Jerome) Cox of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Tina (Earl) Chittendon, Michelle Cox, Jennifer (Darren) Cox Siegel, Brian Herman and Bradley Herman; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora M. (Pasquinelli) Herman, who died Dec. 14, 1999; three brothers, John, Frank and Mike Herman; and two sisters, Ann Michaels and Mary Embroski.

HERMAN — Friends of Andrew Herman, who died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Joseph Wargo, his pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.
