FORWARD TWP — A fire that damaged a vacant home along Glade Run Road Friday morning is still under investigation by the state police fire marshal.

Firefighters from Adams and Penn Townships, as well as Callery, responded to the brick home at 176 Glade Run Road shortly after 7 a.m. that morning.

Callery Fire Department Chief Curt Huffman said Friday a passer-by originally called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the home.

The fire marshal estimated the fire caused $25,000 worth of damage to the house.

Barbara Checkan, 66, of Melbourne, Fla., is the owner of the property.
