Butler to enforce parking lot
Butler will begin enforcing the Quarry Street parking lot beginning June 1.
Mayor Tom Donaldson made the announcement at the city’s Thursday night meeting.
The roughly 50-space lot, which is under the north end of the General Richard Butler Bridge, will be permit parking only. The permits for the lot are $20.
Donaldson said the price of the parking violation will be $20 if issued by the city’s meter monitors, but warned city police could also issue a traffic citation for people illegally parked.
The mayor said at council’s meeting in March that he wanted to begin towing drivers illegally parked at the lot, but said Thursday the city will not begin towing at this time.
