Lakeview Beach Swimming Area, on the North Shore of Moraine State Park, is open daily from sunrise to sunset unless posted otherwise, through the summer season. The Pleasant Valley Beach Swimming Area, on the South Shore, will be delayed in opening due to a construction project. The playground, picnic areas and volleyball court in this area can be used.

Moraine State Park will host family fishing programs beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. Participants are not required to have a fishing license. Equipment will be provided. Families must be registered, must have children and should arrive promptly at 1 p.m. Register at Moraine’s Event Calendar at www.visitPAparks.com or by calling the park office at 724-368-3612.

Moraine will host free kayaking programs, beginning Saturday. Hours for the first program are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants may take their own kayak (life jacket required), or borrow one of Moraine’s kayaks and equipment. The Historic Gristmill at McConnells Mill State Park will open for the season Saturday. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday through October. Call 724-368-3612 for information.
