Two girls are overwhelmed as they ride the G-Force at the 2012 Saxonburg Fireman's Carnival. This year's event is scheduled for June 9 to 14.

Saxonburg — The Saxonburg VFC Fireman’s Carnival returns to the borough June 9 to 14.

The grounds will be open nightly from 6 to 11 p.m., with children’s matinees from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday.

Featured events will include the pet parade, the Miss Saxonburg and Junior Miss Saxonburg pageants and the fireman’s parade. Rides this year will be provided by the Bates Brothers Amusement Co.

The events for the week are:

• Pet parade, 7 p.m. June 9. No registration is required. Pets must be leashed or caged.

• Water battle, 7 p.m. June 10. Teams of firefighters will compete to push a barrel suspended on a cable over the heads of the competing team using fire hoses.

• Little Miss Saxonburg pageant, 7 p.m. June 10.

• Kiddee matinee, 1 to 6 p.m. June 11.

• Junior Miss Saxonburg pageant, 7 p.m. June 11.

• Fireman’s parade, 6 p.m. June 12.

• Miss Saxonburg pageant, 7 p.m. June 13.

Raffles for a 2014 Chevy Camaro 2LS Coupe, a 2014 Harley-Davidson Soft Tail Slim and a $1,000 cash prize will be drawn June 14.
