Man, 77 gets 6 to 12 years in wife's death
PITTSBURGH — A 77-year-old man has been sentenced to spend 6 to 12 years in prison for bludgeoning his wife to death with a pipe wrench two years ago.
Joseph Manning pleaded guilty but mentally ill to third-degree murder in February for the death of his wife, Mary Manning, 71, in the couple’s Whitehall home on March 31, 2012.
Defense attorney Charles LoPresti called the sentence “fair, appropriate and just.”
