AABC annual show opens Friday

The Associated Artists of Butler County's 79th annual spring show opens Friday with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rittelmann Gallery of The Art Center.

The theme is “Be Green and Recycle This Spring,” and the show includes several pieces that consist of recycled materials.

About 80 pieces of art have been entered, two of which are sculptures created by students in an art class.

Performing at the reception will be the Harmony Hot Haus band with its hot jazz and Celtic tunes.

On May 30, the last day of the show, floral arrangements created by area florists will be on display from noon to 6 p.m.

Each will represent a different work of a master artist: Jack Vettriano, Jan Vermeer, Gustav Klimt, Marc Chagall, Jackson Pollock, Edward Hopper, Franz Marc and Salvador Dali.

The floral pieces will be raffled off at the end of that day. Raffle tickets will be available throughout May.The three separate Member Gallery spaces at The Art Center are featuring the work of Shane Parsell, Sue Baechtel and Linda Grabowski.The Art Center, 344 S. Main St., is open noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.Gallery admission is free.
