Evelyn A. Scherer
Evelyn A. Scherer, 84, of Chicora passed away at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice of Butler.
On Aug. 9, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, she was born to the late David Rohn and Ada McFarland Rohn.
She was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose of Chicora and served as a grandma for the day care children center. She enjoyed teaching ceramics and crafts in her home.
On Oct. 30, 1949, she married Herman W. Scherer Sr., who died after 54 years of marriage on Jan. 30, 2002.
She is survived by her two sons, Herman Scherer Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Chicora and Gerald Scherer and his girlfriend, Cindy Zavilla, of Chicora; her daughter, Jennifer Gregor and her husband, Bill Gregor Sr., of Chicora; her grandchildren, Herman III and Stacy, Donald, Vaughn and Kelly, Dennis, Jeremy and Sharon, Justin and Nichole, Brad, Nathan and Michelle, Jerry, Billy Jr. and Michelle, Renee and Chad, and Darilyn; her 26 great-grandchildren; and her four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Evelyn was one of 11 children.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Dennis Scherer.

Slippery Rock and Main streets, in the heart of Chicora.A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mater Dolorosa Church, 409 N. Main St., Chicora, celebrated by the Rev.
