Mary Huff

Mary A. Miller Huff, 94, of Chicora passed away at 3:43 a.m. Monday in the Chicora Medical Center.

She was born in Fairview on Nov. 11, 1919, the daughter of the late Walter W. Miller and Clare O. Foster Miller.

She graduated from Fairview Township Karns City High School in the Class of 1937.

Mary retired in June 1983 after working more than 26 years in the Inspection Department of Castle Rubber in East Butler.

She was a member of the Saint John's Reformed Church in Chicora, where she was the last surviving member of the St. John's Church Birthday Club. She was a member of the Chicora Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 354, AARP and the Chicora Senior Center.

She was quite the trekker and enjoyed traveling and camping. When she was 87 she went on a cruise to Alaska. When she was 90, she went on a cruise to Hawaii.

On Sept. 23, 2000, Mary and her husband, Thomas R. Huff Sr., celebrated 60 years of marriage, having been married on Sept. 23, 1940. Tom died a short time later on Oct. 19, 2000.

Mary is survived by her sons, Thomas R. Huff Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Chicora, and Ronald Huff and his wife, Patricia, of Chicora; her daughter, Norma Saylor and her husband, Gary, of Bruin; her 10 grandchildren; her 18 great-grandchildren; her six great-great-grandchildren; her five step-great-grandchildren; her eight step-great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen Thompson of Cabot; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Paslawski.

Huff — The friends of Mary A. Miller Huff, who passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, will be received at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Pistorius, pastor of the St. John's Reformed Church in Chicora, officiating.Mary will be laid to rest with her husband in the Saint John's Reformed Church Cemetery, 334 W. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.
