Violet M. Rettig, 96, of Cabot passed away at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.

She was born June 10, 1917, in Sarver to the late Chester Heller and Mary (Sandrock) Heller.

Mrs. Rettig was a homemaker and a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she taught the King’s Daughters Sunday school class.

Mrs. Rettig is survived by one son, James L. Rettig of Butler; two daughters, Shirley Vogt and her husband, Kenneth, of Butler and Sandra Corbett and her husband, Robert, of Cecil; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Rettig of Butler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Rettig, who she married June 18, 1936, and who passed away Feb. 21, 1995; two sisters, Betty Davis and Grace Worrell; one daughter-in-law, Judith Rettig; and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

RETTIG — Friends of Violet M. Rettig, who died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Gruenwald Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to a family's favorite charity.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
