Herbert E. Moniot
Herbert E. Moniot, 87, of Butler passed away Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born on Aug. 26, 1926, in Butler, he was the son of the late Joseph and Nora McLaughlin Moniot.
He was married to Margaret Kavchak Moniot on Feb. 12, 1950.
He worked as a slitterman for Butler Armco Works, retiring in 1988. He was a musician who enjoyed playing various instruments. He also enjoyed tennis, golf, trail biking, hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II.
Surviving are his wife; his son, Drew (Carrie) Moniot of Pittsburgh; his sister, Margaret (Roy) Leisie of Prospect; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his five brothers and a sister.
Moniot— The friends of Herbert E. Moniot, who passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Parastas service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora, with the Rev.
