Cranberry's chief planner leaving job

CRANBERRY TWP — The township's chief strategic planning officer is leaving for another job in the private sector.

John Trant Jr. has been with the township since 2007, according to township manager Jerry Andree. He will start his new job with engineering firm Herbert, Rowland & Grubic on April 1.

In his new capacity, Trant will perform consulting duties for the firm, which specializes in municipal land development issues.

In working with the township, Trant oversaw the planning department and was expected to earn about $114,000 this year.

Andree said the township won't immediately replace Trant. Instead, officials are “rearranging duties” and will revisit the position “down the road,” he said.
